After 18 years of serving the Victoria community, Access Midwifery will be closing its doors in September 2023. We have been honoured to support thousands of diverse birthing families over this time, to work with dedicated perinatal colleagues, and to ensure accessible care to our clients. Thank you for allowing us to share in your journeys to parenthood since 2005.

Our founders, Heather Wood and Lorna McRae, have both retired from clinical practice.

Most of our other midwives will continue to practice Midwifery in Victoria. See below for information on where you can find midwives. If you are a repeat client, with an estimated date of delivery (EDD) of October 2023 or later, and would like to initiate care with an Access Midwife, please contact Emily McGregor directly by email (info@accessmidwifery.ca) or phone (250-380-6329) to see if one of our midwives is able to start your prenatal care at Access, and then have you follow the midwife to the different practice in the summer/fall. Continuity of care can take many forms.

We’ll continue to update this section as our midwives announce their next endeavours.

Heather Nelson will be joining The Midwives Collective in Sept 2023.

Heidi Machnee will start practicing at Roundhouse Midwives in February, 2023

Gillian Paterson is taking a leave from midwifery practice to pursue further education.

Emily Baxter can be contacted directly through her website earthsidebirth.ca.

Updates to come on future work for Melanie Mason, Maghan Campbell and Devi Garner.
