The College of Midwives of British Columbia (CMBC) is the regulatory body for the profession of midwifery in the province of British Columbia (BC), Canada. It was established in March 1995 when the provincial legislature proclaimed the Midwives Regulation under the Health Professions Act 1 . The first midwives were registered to practice in BC on January 1, 1998.
The Midwives Association of BC represents Registered Midwives and the profession of midwifery of BC.
CAM is the national organization representing midwives and the profession of midwifery in Canada. Its role is to unite, promote, support and strengthen the profession of midwifery.
Founded in 1944, the Society of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists of Canada is comprised of over 3,000 professional members, including gynaecologists, obstetricians, family physicians, nurses, midwives and allied health professionals.
